Coaching Staff

Awad, Sam

Coach Sam has a long history with Toledo Celtics, as he has worked in a variety of capacities with the club for the past 15 years. Coach Sam was the assistant coach where he has won 2 OYSAN State Championships and attended 2 Regionals. Coach Sam earned his Youth 10/12 and USSF E, and USSF D Licenses. He works with the youth and our high school age groups.

Coach Sam also holds a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toledo.

Bucur, Cory

Coach Cory has joined Toledo Celtics Staff in 2019 Season. He moved over to the Toledo area this year to become the Head Coach at Defiance College where he lead the program to a successful top half of the conference finish in his first season. He also helped mentor two HCAC All-Conference student-athletes and is very excited about the future of the program. 

Originally from the Cleveland area, Cory spent his four year college career at Lake Erie College and immediately upon graduation became an assistant on staff for four additional years. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Adolescent/Young Adult Education with a concentration in Language Arts along with a master’s degree in Business Administration. In his time at Lake Erie College, he was named to the NSCAA Scholar All-East Regional Team along with All Conference for athletics and academics. He helped develop multiple All-Athletic and All-Academic award winners as a coach at Lake Erie including one GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year and one GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year.

Cory was also heavily involved with the club soccer scene in Northeast Ohio as he worked with Ambassadors FC. At Ambassadors, he lead two 03' aged boys teams to a large number of success, including reaching the Great Lakes Alliance regional league playoff rounds for the first time in the club's history. He currently hold a USSF D and USSF E License and is continuing to grow his coaching education. 

Farhan, Talal

 Coach Talal serves as an assistant coach for the 2007s, an agility coach, and as one of our goalie coaches. As a player, Coach Talal played at Owens Community College and and was coached by current staff member, Coach Art Johnson. In his time at Owens he served as  goal-keeper and only allowed only one goal in his debut season. Coach Talal also formerly held an assistant coaching position at Whitmer High School, helping them to achieve some of their most successful years in program history.

Outside of soccer, Coach Talal is currently am earning his undergraduate degrees in the fields of Biology and Chemistry.

Jacobs, Ian

Coach Ian joined the coaching staff in the fall of 2021, but has been a part of Toledo Celtics family as a player for some very crucial formative years of his time playing. While playing at Toledo Celtics, he was coached by both Coach Yousef and Coach Lee to passionately gain the technique, intelligence and ability that allowed him to go onto the next level and receive a scholarship to play collegiate soccer.

After graduating from Perrysburg High School in 2011, Ian joined the Men's Soccer program at Ashland University from 2011-2013. From there, he transferred out to Tiffin University where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 2016. Since college, Coach Ian has played a season with Toledo Villa FC in 2018 (United Premier Soccer League). He currently still plays in local men's leagues.

Coach Ian is moving into coaching as a natural progression from his playing career. He currently holds a Varsity Assistant Coach role at St. Francis De Sales School, and Coach Ian also intends on seeking his USSF licensures.

Blue, Jeff

Coach Blue has a history playing for the Celtics in the mid and late 1990’s. Coach Blue played at Bryan High School and his coaching history began right after he graduated, coaching for the Bryan Soccer Association and their youth program. Coach Blue then began to coach for the Maumee Express followed by coaching with the Toledo Celtics. Coach Blue coaches and assists with the 2015 and 2016 girls teams. Coach Blue has completed the 4v4 online course, the 7v7 grassroots course, the 9v9 grassroots course, the 11v11 grassroots course and has recently completed and holds his US Soccer D license. 

Richardson, Raymón

Coach Raymón has been apart of the Toledo Celtics Soccer Club family since a very young age. Having participated in the Leprechauns program, he found his way to Celtics, where he played for 9 years. After graduating from Roy C. Start High School, he set off to Bowling Green State University. At BGSU, he played for the Men’s Club and Varsity Soccer programs before spending a year as Head Coach of the Women’s Club Soccer program. This coaching opportunity lead him back to the club, where he has worked in a variety of roles throughout our Leprechauns and Celtics programs, primarily focused on coaching and developing the youth age groups.

Coach Raymón is currently pursuing a degree in Architecture & Environmental Design at BGSU. He holds his USSF D, USSF E, USSF Grassroots, and Youth 10/12 coaching licenses.

Winkler, Logan

Coach Winkler has a playing career in his youth playing for Sylvania and Toledo throughout his school-aged years. In high school coach Winkler played Blissfield High School and for the Toledo Celtics under Coach Lee. After graduating high school, Coach Winkler played on a scholarship at Indiana Tech University.  

Coach Winkler coached many of the developmental Toledo Leprechaun teams and officially joined the Celtics coaching staff in 2023 primarily working with the U8’s and U9’s. Coach Winkler currently works with the 2016 Green and 2016 Black teams. Coach Winkler currently hold grass root coaching certifications with plans to move up to D licensure.

Coach Winkler hold an associate degree in Physical Therapy Assisting, a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from the University of Toledo, and he is currently working on his Masters degree in Business Administration from Lourdes University.

Chesser, Jeff

Coach Jeff Chesser is a native to Toledo area and has been apart of the Celtics family for over 15 years. Coach Jeff graduated from Bowsher High School in 2009 where he was the starting goalie all 4 years. During his high school career, Coach Jeff was named First Team All City and 2nd Team All State. Coach Jeff attended The University of Toledo after high school and played 2 season with the College club team as the starting goalie and was also an Assistant Coach at Bowsher High school for their Varsity soccer team. Coach Jeff transferred and graduated from Owens Community College and finished with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice.

Coach Jeff is an Assistant Coach for the 2012 and 2011 boys black teams. Coach Jeff is also a goalie coach and works with our goalies, ages 7-14. Coach Jeff has also played alongside Coach Yadi and Coach Yousef and was coached by Coach Lee during his years at the Toledo Celtics Soccer Club.

Coach Jeff bleeds green and black and has loved this club since joining as a youth. Coach Jeff is currently seeking his goalkeeper certifications and licenses and will look to get his Grass Roots and possible D license.
